Arc Raiders Dumps Monthly Grinds for Big Bi-Annual Drops Starting With Frozen Trail

Embark Studios is trading monthly patches for bi-annual major updates in Arc Raiders, starting with the massive Frozen Trail map expansion in October.

The team at Embark Studios is changing how they support Arc Raiders, moving away from the standard monthly update cycle in favor of massive content drops every six months. According to a recent developer update reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, executive producer Aleksander Grondal explained that the team found the monthly grind restricted how transformative their additions could be. By slowing down the pace, Embark aims to deliver updates that genuinely shift how players experience the game, moving away from short-term content patches to focus on long-term health and meaningful changes.

The first major milestone under this new system will be the Frozen Trail update, currently scheduled for October. This upcoming drop brings the largest map in the game so far, introducing a new layered landscape within the Rust Belt alongside fresh enemies, expanded goals for high-level players, and a reworked skill tree. Lore enthusiasts will also get a deeper look into the overarching narrative, as Frozen Trail begins to explore the origins of the ARC threat and pushes players closer to the goal of reclaiming the surface.

While the headline content drops are spreading out, regular maintenance is not disappearing entirely. Smaller live updates, balance patches, bug fixes, store refreshes, and community events will still fill the gaps between the major expansions. Additionally, upcoming quality-of-life additions like a new level 25 trader give late-game players a better way to offload junk for rare items and cosmetics, keeping the economy active while the community awaits the next big drop.
