Apex Legends Season 28: Breach introduces Hardlight Mesh windows on February 10, adding destructible and repairable barriers that alter combat and map control.
Apex Legends is shaking up its battle royale formula in Season 28: Breach by introducing Hardlight Mesh windows. Launching on February 10, these new environmental additions allow players to see through them, but block incoming bullets and physical entry until the barrier is completely destroyed. While the concept bears a striking resemblance to the barrier mechanics found in the recent raid shooter Highguard, Respawn Entertainment designs seasons up to a year in advance, meaning the overlap is simply a case of parallel game development rather than imitation.
Unlike similar wall systems in other titles, Apex's Hardlight Meshes cannot be reinforced. They do, however, take additional damage to shatter, with melee attacks and explosives clearing the glass much faster than standard gunfire. More importantly, Controller-class Legends like Catalyst, Caustic, Rampart, and Wattson gain the unique ability to repair these shattered windows mid-match, adding a vital new layer of defensive utility to tactical squad compositions.
Lead battle royale designer Eric Canavese noted that features like this are designed to reshape how veterans navigate familiar spaces, forcing players to rethink traditional sightlines and push routes. For competitive players grinding the ranked ladder ahead of the next Apex Legends Global Series Championship, mastering these new entry and defense points will be essential. Season 28 goes live on February 10, bringing fresh strategic depth to the aging battle royale standard.
