Anime Aesthetics Meet High Speed Action in Upcoming Roguelike SlashZero

Indie developer Streetlamp Studio has announced SlashZero, an anime styled roguelike action platformer combining sci-fi aesthetics with fast paced combat, currently featuring a popular playable demo on PC and PlayStation 5.

As reported by Game Rant, indie developer Streetlamp Studio has introduced SlashZero, an upcoming 3D side scrolling action roguelike that blends neon soaked cybernetic aesthetics with intense martial arts combat. Players step into the shoes of a time traveler working to halt a global threat across fractured timelines, incorporating a classic progression loop where every defeat unlocks new abilities and narrative pieces. The visual presentation draws clear inspiration from modern sci-fi anime hits like Cyberpunk Edgerunners, utilizing striking typography, heavy color contrast, and cybernetically enhanced character designs.

The gameplay itself leans heavily into fast paced melee and ranged combinations reminiscent of classic ninja action titles. Three distinct characters are available at launch, including the dual blade wielding close quarters specialist Nyx, the gun kata master Fina, and Hamlet, a sturdy tank equipped with a sword and shield. This variety allows for distinct playstyles that cater to both aggressive rushdown tactics and calculated defensive positioning.

Players eager to test out the mechanics can currently download a limited time playable demo on Steam and the PlayStation 5, which includes roughly ten hours of content and a couple of hidden boss encounters. The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, securing high approval ratings across both platforms ahead of the game's scheduled full release in Spring 2027 for PC and PS5.
