Critical Role is adding some serious fantasy royalty to the upcoming fourth season of The Legend of Vox Machina. As reported by Polygon, legendary actor and motion capture pioneer Andy Serkis is officially joining the cast of the hit animated series. The core Critical Role team dropped the surprise announcement in a recent video, though they are keeping exact details about his role under wraps for now to let fans speculate.
Securing Serkis has been a long-term goal for the production. Travis Willingham noted in previous interviews that the team has had their sights set on him since day one, praising his unmatched vocal range and ability to bring deep character work to life. Serkis joins a stacked guest lineup that already includes industry veterans like Wayne Brady and Kevin Michael Richardson.
Season 4 arrives on Amazon Prime on June 3, picking up a year after the dramatic conclusion of season 3. Following the defeat of the Chroma Conclave, the party initially split up, but the new episodes will reunite them to face fresh dangers and higher stakes. With Serkis on board and creators teasing a much darker path ahead, this upcoming run is shaping up to be a major highlight for the community.
