Amazon MGM Studios has released a teaser trailer for the live-action Masters of the Universe movie, offering early looks at Prince Adam, Man-at-Arms, and Battle Cat ahead of a full reveal.
Amazon MGM Studios has dropped a teaser trailer for its upcoming live action Masters of the Universe film, giving audiences a first look at the planet Eternia and several key characters. While a full trailer arrives on Thursday, the current preview showcases Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam alongside Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, and a computer generated Battle Cat. Fans will have to wait just a bit longer for their first official look at He-Man and Jared Leto as the villainous Skeletor.
The narrative takes a slightly different angle on the classic Mattel lore. The movie follows a ten year old Prince Adam who crashes on Earth and loses his Power Sword, only to track it down nearly two decades later and return to Eternia to fight Skeletor. Directing duties are in the hands of Travis Knight, known for Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee, with a script penned by Chris Butler.
Originally launched as an action figure line in 1982 before expanding into iconic animation and various spin offs, the franchise holds deep nostalgic value for multiple generations of players and pop culture fans. As adaptations of toy lines and gaming universes continue to flood modern screens, the real test will be balancing that nostalgia with fresh cinematic storytelling.
