Amazon MGM Studios recently took over CinemaCon 2026 to lay out its upcoming entertainment slate, delivering big updates for fans of classic sci-fi and action franchises. While the presentation stayed behind closed doors in Las Vegas, reporting from IGN detailed a lineup packed with nostalgic revivals and unexpected sequels. The biggest comedy reveal of the panel focused on the long awaited sequel to Spaceballs, which now officially bears the title Spaceballs: The New One. Attendees caught a sizzle reel featuring returning gags, a five-pronged lightsaber battle, and sharp commentary on modern studio mergers and franchise reboots. Alongside the sci-fi comedy, Amazon MGM showcased updates for the upcoming Masters of the Universe adaptation, the Henry Cavill-led Highlander project, and an action-heavy slate including Beekeeper 2.
For modern players and digital entertainment fans who follow cross-media adaptations closely, these projects show how studios continue to mine nostalgic intellectual property for new cinematic universes. As streaming platforms and theatrical releases become more intertwined, reviving these properties signals a major push to capture audiences across multiple generations of media consumption.
