Alix Wilton Regan is taking over the role of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, succeeding survivor trilogy actor Camilla Luddington.
The next era of Tomb Raider is officially taking shape, and it comes with a major casting update for gaming's most iconic adventurer. Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games dropped a double feature announcement recently, revealing both the official title for their next-generation project, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, and a modern reimagining of the 1996 classic called Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Stepping into the dual-pistols role for both titles is Alix Wilton Regan, who takes over the iconic mantle as the franchise marches toward its 2027 release window for Catalyst and a planned launch next year for Legacy of Atlantis.
This transition marks the end of an era for the survival trilogy that defined the character from 2013 to 2018. Camilla Luddington, who lent her voice and motion capture to the gritty reboot era, shared a heartfelt farewell with the community on social media, expressing deep gratitude for the fandom and noting that the character will always remain a part of her. Luddington set a high standard for emotional depth in modern action storytelling, and her tenure left a lasting mark on how players connect with Lara's origin story.
For the community, this casting shift signals a fresh chapter that balances nostalgia with next-gen ambition. Legacy of Atlantis promises to bring the roots of the franchise into the modern era using Unreal Engine 5, giving longtime fans a reason to revisit where it all started. Meanwhile, Catalyst is building on the massive scale expected from modern hardware across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. As development ramps up, all eyes are on how Wilton Regan will interpret the legendary explorer for a new generation of players and creators.
