Ace Combat 8 is bridging the gap to its October 2 launch with a live action prequel series starring Josh Holloway, setting up the game's central conflict across a multi part YouTube release.
Bandai Namco is setting the stage for next month's release with a live action narrative prelude. According to IGN South Africa, the campaign kicks off with the premiere of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Hour Zero, a multi part video series designed to bridge the gap before the game hits storefronts on October 2.
The opening episode introduces LOST, a pilot with nowhere to land, played by actor Josh Holloway. He is one of three survivors navigating the chaotic opening days of the Republic of Sotoa's invasion of the Federation of Central Usea, establishing the bleak geopolitical backdrop that players will dive into during the main campaign.
Fans looking to follow the full story can catch the remaining episodes rolling out over the next two weeks across IGN platforms and YouTube. It is a smart cross media play for a franchise leaning hard into cinematic world building right before launch.
