IGN South Africa released the official trailer for Thieves Highway, an upcoming action thriller starring Aaron Eckhart as an isolated lawman fighting a dangerous smuggling gang.
Action cinema fans have a new gritty thriller on the horizon, as IGN South Africa recently debuted the official trailer for Thieves Highway. The film stars Aaron Eckhart as Frank Bennett, a lawman who stumbles upon a massive smuggling operation run by a deranged ex-military commander. Stranded without transport and cut off from cell service following a deadly initial confrontation, Bennett has to use every ounce of his tactical training to stop the heavily armed crew before they cross the border. The project is directed by Jesse V. Johnson and written by Travis Mills based on a story by J.D. Pepper and Mills.
Alongside Eckhart, the movie features a recognizable genre cast including Devon Sawa, Lucy Martin, and Lochlyn Munro. While traditional action thrillers live primarily on the silver screen, the gritty cat-and-mouse setup and isolated survival dynamics of Thieves Highway feel right at home for audiences who appreciate high stakes tension. The premise leans heavily into classic survival action tropes, trading sprawling urban backdrops for an isolated wilderness where one tactical error means game over.
For players and viewers who track genre releases between gaming sessions, this looks like a solid popcorn flick to throw on during a weekend movie night with your squad. You can check out the full preview over at IGN South Africa to see the explosive setups and tense showdowns for yourself.
